Shorting – The switch will momentarily “short” position 1 and 2 together when rotating from position 1 to position 2. This type of contact is sometimes referred to as “make before break.”

Non-shorting – The connection is momentarily broken when rotating from position 1 to position 2. This type of contact is sometimes referred to as “break before make.”

Make sure your switch has the following before checking out with RS400 series items in the store.

• Starts with RS400P or RS400N.
• Has the number 60 (60 degree step angle) or 30 (30 degree step angle) designation in the part number.
• Start Stop position may vary with Maximum of 5 or 11.
• Has the B (shorting) or A (non-shorting) designation in the RS400 part number.
• If your switch does not have 4 decks and has 1,2 or 3 decks, this switch will work as long as there is clearance in the enclosure. Most enclosures have plenty of room to fit the extra length.

The part number on the switch may vary from the actual switch being replaced. Make sure to move the set screw(s) to the same position(s) as the switch you are replacing.
