Megohm Meter - Servo Motor Tester

This Megohm Meter / motor tester is one of the best tools to have in your toolbox when troubleshooting CNC machine tools. How many motors or drives have you replaced and found it not to be what you thought? How much money did it cost you because you could not return the parts or had to pay restocking fees? How did you like telling your boss you ordered the wrong part? Here is what this megohm tester can do for you.

• Checks motor insulation resistance to ground to tell you if the motor windings are bad, contaminated with coolant or going bad.
• Checks motor cables to let you know if they are coolant soaked, shorted or need to be replaced.
• Detects if you have some of the insulation jacket rubbing off inside the cable tracking which will show up as a slight short or direct short.
• Checks the insulation resistance in the Amphenol plugs or connectors to see if they have coolant in them, corroded and shorting between each other.
• Also great for checking all motors not just servo motors as well as AC and cooler compressors!
• Great for intermittent problems where the cable flexes and shorts more in some places then others.

Meter Operation
Its simple- Disconnect the leads from the drive. Then connect the alligator leads (black) to ground and (Red) to one of the phases, then push the button and watch the LED's to see where they lie or if it climbs above 1000 megohms.
