What is an SRAM card?
SRAM cards are used for temporarily backing up parameters, programs, data and drive data..
Most of today’s machines use Compact Flash Cards. However, Compact Flash (CF) cards might not work with machines manufactured on or before the year 2000. Using one could produce a blank screen or error message on controls, or the CF card might not be recognized. For this era of machines, SRAM cards are required.
Compatibility
SRAM Type I (3.3mm) and Type II (5.0mm) Compatible
Our SRAM cards are compatible with most CNC machines that have a PCMCIA card slot, located on the front control panel, on the drives themselves or elsewhere on the machine. SRAM cards may also work for other devices used in automation such as HMIs. Some older machines can not recognize the large capacity disk sizes commonly used today. The newer I-series controls built around 1998 and above no longer support SRAM Cards. In this case, order Compact Flash Cards with an adapter.
Note below statement may not be true at this time. SRAM cards are in state of flux do to manufacturing issues. These cards will not work with Powermates at this time. Apologize for any incompatabilities, refunds will be provided for cost of goods if purchased and found incompatible.
May be compatible replacements for ActionTec, Epson, Hitachi, Kingmax, Magic Ram, Mitsubishi, Panasonic fixed Battery BN-S512SR, Toshiba, Viking, Kingmax SJA-512K5W, Panasonic BN-512HSRC, Pretech S65512 SA5512, Centennial: SR512-15-11191, PCM-SRP-AK512, Powermate Fujitsu MB98A80813–20–G–S, Powermate Fuji Electrochemical SC–9027–22H14 and other brand PCMCIA SRAM memory PC cards.
How to determine the capacity size needed
The capacity size needed depends on the equipment. Generally, a 2MB or 4MB card is enough for your Mitsubishi controls to perform a SRAM backup on the machine for restoration. Some equipment and applications require a smaller size.
Most programs, unless you are doing die mold, will easily fit on a 2MB to 4MB size card. Some older automation controls and applications may require smaller than 2MB cards. Check your program file size if you are unsure.

Why is the cost so much for a measly 4MB SRAM card?
We wish we knew! They are not cheap. However, having one can save a lot of aggravation by performing an SRAM backup before you play with or removing boards from the control. Knowing you can restore everything in a matter of seconds is worth the price.
Note: This card has watch style batteries in them that need to be replaced at least once a year.
What is attribute memory when associated with a PCMCIA SRAM card?
The device that tries to read from the SRAM card looks at the Attribute Memory stored on the card. With this information, the card is essentially plug-and-play. When in doubt, always buy a PC card with the Attribute Memory.
SRAM Card drivers and Readers

- Windows Vista/7/8/10 - the only available option on the market is this device which has its own built in OS to read SRAM cards - External USB SRAM card reader. SRAM cards are not supported by Windows Vista, 7, 8 or 10. No drivers can be made to read them if you have a PCMCIA slot.
