What is a Null Modem adapter for RS232 communications?
A null modem basically crosses several wires for send and receive in order to communicate between two computers, machines, or any devices with standard protocol. This is an industry standard! Many times the 2 wires need to be crossed depending on the communication devices on either end PC/CNC or PC/PC etc.
Do you need it?
If you are having problems with getting RS232 communications to work on one of your machines and have never communicated with it, this may be the reason. Whether you need it depends on whether your PC or machine is wired DTE or DCE. By using this null modem you should not cause any problems or damage to either the PC or machine. RS232 is a standard and a low voltage protocol.
